Polish President Karol Nawrocki has announced plans to deepen economic and strategic ties with the United States, proposing the establishment of a regional service hub for American military equipment in Poland. Speaking at the Polish-American Economic Summit in New York, Nawrocki emphasized the potential for Poland to play a pivotal role in the defense and energy sectors within Central and Eastern Europe.
Nawrocki highlighted Poland’s ambitions to become a major hub for US liquefied natural gas (LNG), which could significantly bolster the region’s energy security. He pointed out that Poland is already facilitating the distribution of US-sourced gas to Ukraine and expressed intentions to expand this role further, thereby reinforcing Poland’s position as a central energy hub.
The Polish president also advocated for an increased involvement of Polish companies in the production and servicing of American defense equipment. He proposed the creation of a European PAC-3 service center in Poland, leveraging the country’s existing industrial capabilities and local enterprises to enhance bilateral cooperation in defense.
In addition to defense and energy, Nawrocki underscored opportunities for collaboration between Polish and American industries in automotive and pharmaceutical supply chains. He suggested that the Port of Gdańsk could serve as a strategic gateway for American goods entering Central Europe and play a role in future reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.
Nawrocki’s proposals reflect a strategic vision aimed at strengthening Poland’s economic and security relationships with the United States while positioning the country as a key player in regional energy and defense initiatives.
