Polish President Karol Nawrocki has emphasized the significance of establishing a permanent U.S. military presence in Poland, underscoring it as a central theme in ongoing discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump. During his visit to New York for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Nawrocki highlighted the importance of this military partnership for enhancing Poland’s security.
Nawrocki revealed that the conversation with President Trump also covered topics such as U.S. defense equipment deliveries and Poland’s aspiration to secure a permanent spot in the G20. He indicated that Trump has shown support for bolstering the long-term military presence of the United States in Poland. Additionally, Nawrocki called for further dialogue between Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to advance these initiatives.
Strengthening military and economic ties between Poland and the U.S. remains a priority for Nawrocki, who is actively pursuing investment projects and contracts with American defense companies. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to deepen Poland’s security partnership with the United States and to solidify its standing within NATO.
In his address to the UN General Assembly, Nawrocki plans to focus on Poland’s security issues, as well as broader regional and global crises. Regarding Poland’s ambitions for G20 membership, Nawrocki stated that Warsaw is actively seeking permanent membership and is working to garner support through diplomatic discussions with other governments, including talks with the African Union.
