Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed gratitude to the United States for reinstating the Starlink and Starshield satellite internet services, emphasizing their significance for military logistics and defense against Russian drone strikes. In a video message, Zelensky underscored the importance of these services in maintaining Ukraine’s operational capabilities on the frontlines.
While thanking U.S. lawmakers, officials, and media representatives for their roles in addressing the restoration of these internet services, Zelensky renewed his appeal for the delivery of air defense missiles, particularly ammunition for the Patriot systems. He highlighted the urgency of these shipments, noting that they are vital for protecting Ukrainian cities and infrastructure from Russian ballistic missile threats.
In addition to military needs, Zelensky expressed hope for a humanitarian mission in Oleshky, a town located in the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine’s Kherson region. This initiative, facilitated by U.S. mediation, aims to establish a local ceasefire that would allow the delivery of food and medical supplies to civilians and enable safe passage for those wishing to leave the conflict zone.
Zelensky outlined that the proposed humanitarian operation involves creating a safe corridor through mine-clearing efforts. He expressed Ukraine’s readiness to cooperate and voiced hope that U.S. mediation would make this humanitarian mission feasible, despite the challenging conditions in the area, including mined roads.
