Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is set to visit Việt Nam from October 24 to 26, responding to an invitation from Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng. The visit aims to bolster cooperation between the two nations in various sectors including trade, education, science, culture, and political relations.
The diplomatic relationship between Việt Nam and Poland dates back to February 4, 1950. Both countries plan to celebrate the 75th anniversary of their partnership in 2025. Over the years, Việt Nam and Poland have engaged in diplomatic dialogue, economic cooperation, and educational and cultural exchanges, strengthening their bilateral ties.
Prime Minister Tusk’s visit follows the official trip of former Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính to Poland in January 2025. During that visit, both nations agreed to work towards elevating their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Economic collaboration remains a focal point of the relationship, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $3.94 billion in 2025, marking a 14.8% increase from the previous year. Việt Nam primarily exports electronics, machinery, garments, footwear, coffee, and other agricultural products to Poland, while Poland exports machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products to Việt Nam.
Tusk’s visit is anticipated to open doors for further economic opportunities and strengthen cooperation in key sectors. Both countries are committed to fostering closer commercial ties and expanding collaboration in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges.
The visit underscores the ongoing efforts by Việt Nam and Poland to deepen their longstanding relationship and advance their shared economic and diplomatic interests.
