Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a strengthening of relations between Ukraine and Poland, following discussions with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. This development comes amid shared security concerns due to Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Polish government and public for their unwavering support, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation between the two nations.
Zelensky highlighted that robust ties between Kyiv and Warsaw are essential for European security. He voiced confidence that any outstanding bilateral issues could be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect, and practical cooperation. The recent meeting with Tusk was described by Zelensky as constructive, with both countries sharing a vested interest in enhancing their partnership.
This improvement in diplomatic relations follows previous interactions between Ukrainian and Polish leaders. In August, Polish President Karol Nawrocki reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense and maintaining its territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.
Both Ukraine and Poland have also underscored the importance of addressing historical sensitivities through open dialogue. They aim to develop long-term relations based on mutual respect and shared security interests. Zelensky stressed the need for continued solidarity as Ukraine navigates ongoing security challenges.
