A recent report by the Veritas Et Ius Association has shed light on significant payments made to members of three codification commissions functioning under Poland’s Ministry of Justice. Between 2024 and June 2026, these commissions disbursed nearly PLN 4.8 million to their members, the report reveals.
Krystian Markiewicz stands out among the recipients, having earned PLN 240,000 during this period. Despite his removal from the position of chairman of the Codification Commission on the Judiciary and the Public Prosecution Service, Markiewicz remains an active member of the commission.
The report highlights that the judiciary commission alone has been responsible for a substantial financial burden on taxpayers, amounting to over PLN 1.54 million. This expenditure is linked to the commission’s activities, which included 36 meetings. However, the report does not provide specifics regarding the attendance or participation levels of individual members during these meetings.
This disclosure raises questions about financial management and accountability within these commissions.
