Norway has committed €90 million to support Ukraine’s reform efforts through the European Union’s Ukraine Facility, underscoring the financial support’s connection to the country’s institutional and EU membership advancements. This contribution is part of the facility’s 11th installment, valued at approximately €2.1 billion.
To qualify for this installment, Ukraine is required to implement 23 reforms by the end of 2026. These reforms span critical areas such as public finance management, judicial processes, anti-corruption frameworks, business environment improvements, and the rule of law.
The progress of these reforms is crucial as Ukraine faces delays that could affect the release of international financial support and its journey toward EU accession. However, recent legislative activities in Ukraine have seen several reform bills move forward, indicating some progress.
Norway, though not an EU member, remains closely connected to the bloc through the European Economic Area and has been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine’s recovery and reform initiatives. The nation’s financial backing aligns with its broader commitment to aiding Ukraine’s development.
Since its inception in 2024, the Ukraine Facility has provided a substantial €29.5 billion to support Ukraine. This ongoing assistance emphasizes the international community’s investment in Ukraine’s future and its alignment with European standards.
