Brighton Defeats Arsenal 3-0, Handing Premier League Champions First Loss.

Must Read

Brighton delivered a commanding 3-0 win over Arsenal, halting the Gunners’ undefeated run and spoiling the club’s 125th anniversary celebrations. This result marked Arsenal’s first defeat of the new Premier League season, ending their streak of seven consecutive victories across all competitions.

Pascal Gross initiated the scoring for Brighton, capitalizing on sustained pressure around the Arsenal penalty area. The midfielder received a pass from Charalampos Kostoulas and skillfully directed the ball into the net. Not long after, Kostoulas himself doubled the lead with a powerful shot from outside the box, showcasing his dynamic presence on the field.

Brighton maintained their dominance into the second half. Chema Andrés secured a third goal with a precise header from a Gross corner, putting the game out of Arsenal’s reach. Despite Arsenal’s efforts, the team struggled to create significant scoring opportunities and conceded three goals for the first time since December 2023.

The victory propelled Brighton into third place in the Premier League standings, just two points shy of Arsenal. Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta now faces the task of reassessing the team’s performance during the upcoming international break before resuming league play.
