Market Crash and 60% Inflation Surge as Iranian Government Braces for US Military Action

Must Read

Iran’s economy is in a state of freefall as the shadow of a US-led military strike looms over the nation. Following the announcement of the USS Abraham Lincoln’s deployment, the Tehran stock market suffered its largest single-day loss in history. This financial panic is compounded by new official data showing that inflation has reached a staggering 60%, pushing the population to a breaking point.

Economic misery is a central component of the current crisis. US planners believe that the combination of military pressure and economic hardship will drive citizens back into the streets to demand a change in leadership. While previous conflicts focused on the country’s nuclear program, the current tension is specifically tied to the survival of the political system and the grievances of 90 million people.

Diplomatic avenues appear to be closing rapidly. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei recently denied reports of secret talks with US special envoy Steve Witkoff. The US has reportedly upped its demands, insisting on the total removal of highly enriched uranium and the return of UN weapons inspectors, conditions that the Iranian judiciary has advised the government to reject entirely.

The cost of the internal conflict is also rising. Human rights groups report that over 5,000 protesters have been killed, with some families allegedly being charged thousands of dollars just to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones. These reports of “body ransoms,” though denied by the state, have only added fuel to the fire of public resentment and international condemnation.

As internet access remains throttled, the business sector is warning that the country cannot withstand a prolonged digital outage. The Iranian government is now caught in a pincer movement between a collapsing domestic economy and the massive firepower of an American carrier strike group stationed just offshore, leaving little room for a peaceful resolution.
